Hesketh Farm Park is set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, just one mile from the picturesque village of Bolton Abbey and five miles from the market town of Skipton.
There’s loads to do, including feeding and stroking the animals and having fun inside – maybe in the giant sandpit or playing hide and seek with your friends in the straw maze.
The Farm Park is idyllic, with around 10 acres of greenery overlooking the Yorkshire hills and the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam train whistling by in the valley below.
Hesketh Farm is still a working farm with over 1,000 livestock, including cattle, sheep and pigs. Today it is run by Chris and his wife Sue, who are the fourth generation to farm here. As Dales weather can be unpredictable, they have a large cosy, undercover barn with an efficient heating system so that your day will still be fun-packed, even if it’s grim outside. If you’re feeling peckish, there is a small café from which you can enjoy a delightful homemade snack.

Lotherton Hall is a country house with beautiful grounds and a fabulous bird garden. Plenty to do with the children, especially in the summer when garden games such as giant Jenga, hoops and sacks for racing are laid out for you to enjoy while you picnic.

Little Lotherton – first Tuesday of every month (term time) (10am to 11am). Under 5’s art sessions for parents, carers and little ones.
Make and Create – every second and third Saturday of the month (1pm to 3pm)
Drop-in ‘making and creating’ aimed at all the family. Take part in various activities no matter what your age!
Craftiness – every Friday in school holidays (1pm to 3pm)
Drop-in children’s crafts and play – come rain or shine, games and activities – every Wednesday in the school holidays (10am to 4pm)

Wheelchair accessible farm with rare breed animals including pigs, peacocks, highland cows, goats, horses, donkeys, birds of prey, llamas and much more. You can also see reindeer, meerkats, lemurs and raccoon dogs.
There is a Bunny Barn and a Reptile House (where you might get to hold something if you’re brave enough!), outdoor play areas, a zip wire slide and a beach to build sandcastles on. If the weather turns, there is a fantastic indoor soft play for the kids.
If you’re picnicking, there are plenty of places to sit, and there is a coffee shop and restaurant too.

With its beautiful park and gardens, house tour & Home Farm, Temple Newsam is a great day out. Meet hundreds of child-friendly farm animals, such as pigs, sheep, goats, cattle and ducks, and get hands-on with the piglets and chickens running free in the yard.
