Another school holiday here already and sometimes the pressure to be out and about every day can feel a bit too much, especially on your wallet. We’ve put together a list of fun ideas and activities you can do this Easter that won’t break the bank but still ensure you all have a great holiday.
Decorate Eggs – You can have loads of fun adding crafty bits and bobs to some hard boiled eggs, or use dye to create some fancy colours. Here are some ideas you might like to try.
Bake an Easter dessert – We like to try a different recipe every year, but usually take a homemade Easter dessert to the grandparents for Easter Sunday. Past favourites have included carrot cake and No Bake Mini Egg Cheesecake. Simple options include bunny-shaped biscuits, cereal and chocolate nests and buns with Mini Eggs on top.
Set up an Egg Hunt – There are lots of fantastic Egg hunts in our area, but sometimes it’s nice to stay home. Fancy doing your own this year? This blog has some fun clue ideas if you need inspiration!
Have an Egg and Spoon Race – If you’re using real eggs – and I would definitely recommend plastic ones instead – then outdoors is the way to go! This is fun for the whole family, and you can make it trickier by doing a three-legged race, adding blindfolds, etc. You can buy egg and spoon race kits, but they’re easy to set up yourself too.
From egg tossing to bunny racing, egg rolling and a glow in the dark egg hunt, this blog is full of other fun Easter games that you can play together as a family at home.
Serve breakfast in half an Easter Egg! – Everyone wants chocolate for breakfast at Easter – enter the Easter Egg cereal bowl! We weren’t sure about this one at first (no one wanted the milk to spoil their treasured Easter Eggs) but we all loved it in the end and now it’s become a tradition.
Gift an Easter Basket – In some families, the Easter Bunny brings Easter Baskets instead of chocolate eggs. Usually, they are full of fun springtime treats, such as bubbles, bunny snacks, crafts and things you can use in the spring, such as wellies, sunglasses, seeds to plant, a watering can, etc. It’s a lovely tradition and so fun to see the kids so excited to see them on Easter morning – it’s like Christmas (but cheaper!!). This year I’m putting sticker books, Easter craft bits, activity books, gardening gloves and of course, an Easter Egg.
