Visit Lotherton this October and discover a country estate with a family home at its heart. The Edwardian hall, filled with treasures collected by the Gascoigne family from across the globe, is currently displaying three exhibitions to celebrate the estate’s 50th anniversary. Exploring the past, present and future of Lotherton, End of an Era, Lotherton in the Making, and Fashion Forward showcase a range of stories and objects which reveal how the hall has transformed over the years.
Step outdoors and you will see the historic chapel, which dates back to the 1100s and is still in use today. Follow the path around to the left of the hall and wander through some eight acres of gardens which include an old fashioned rose garden with herbaceous borders. Deer Park Corner is home to our herd of red deer which can be viewed from the Deer Hide.
We have two playgrounds for children to let off steam, with climbing frames, zip wires, swings, roundabouts and plenty of seating close to the Stable Courtyard. A range of woodland walks are available to pick up from the hall, pick up a trail to discover the wildlife that calls Lotherton home.
A highlight of any visit, Lotherton’s Wildlife World includes playful Humboldt penguins, a flamboyance of flamingos and three characterful Visayan warty pigs. Find out more about the animals that live here and what we can do to protect their future.
